Lower Your Property Tax

By Contesting your Appraised Property Values

Deadline: June 15

or 30 days after a Notice Of Appraised Value was mailed to you, whichever is later.

NOTICE: Currently DCAD offices are closed due to the COVID-19 response. It is encouraged that all property owners use DCAD’s online portal to file their protest.  You may mail your protest in as well.

Option 1: File Your Protest Online:

  1. Go to the Dallas Central Appraisal District’s Search Appraisal function: http://www.dallascad.org/SearchOwner.aspx

  2. You may search by Owner Name, Address, or Account Number.

  3. Once you are on the details page of your property, simply click on the “uFile Online Protest” link and it will take you through the steps to file your protest online.

The Online Protest link is beneath the DCAD Property Map link and above the Print Homestead Exemption Form link. You will need a PIN number that is printed on the upper left corner of your notice. You will find it just above your Account Number.  You may also request your individual PIN # through uFile Online Protest portal.

Option 2: Mail-in Your Protest:

If you prefer to mail in your protest, a form is included with your notice. This form will already have your name and property information filled out.  Mail your form, along with supporting documents to:

Apprisal Review Board of Dallas County

Residential Division

PO BOX 560348

Dallas, TX 75356-0358

Protest Process Instructions:

(While these instructions documents still have the old deadline of May 15h, the new deadline is June 15th or 30 days after your notice was mailed to you. )
